EXPERIENCE

Pastor for Worship Arts
2002-2026

Concord Baptist Church
Chattanooga, TN

  • Designed weekly worship services, including music selection and arrangements for multiple instrumentalists

  • Planned prayer and scripture readings in a simple gospel-shaped liturgical structure

  • Coordinated with the preaching pastor each week to ensure continuity of message and appropriateness of response elements of the service

  • Rehearsed worship choir and small ensembles for worship leadership

  • Created arrangements for and rehearsed a live worship band (piano, acoustic guitar, bass, percussion, violin, flute, keyboard)

  • Oversaw all audio and video aspects of campus, including the installation and maintenance of multiple systems and training volunteers on sound and software based systems

  • Created and programmed all multimedia service elements for presentation software and announcement screens on campus

  • Led for 15 years, then oversaw the summer Kids Choir program, including music instruction, curriculum design, volunteer oversight, set design, and drama instruction

  • Hosted and produced concerts for the local community, managing all aspects including booking, promotion, ticketing, artist hospitality, and day-of management

  • Taught regularly in my ministry area and occasionally before the whole church

  • Trained young worship leaders in the church, both in musical skills and in our approach to music ministry, service planning, gospel shaped worship, and worship as discipleship

  • Coordinated with pastoral staff to ensure continuity of philosophy and standards throughout all ministries of the church

  • Participated as a minister in all of church life, extending care and counseling to church members, working through difficult or divisive issues as a body

  • Offered leadership and budget oversight to several ministry areas, oversaw all church print and online communication, managed campus scheduling and facility care, and supported the other ministries of the church through technical and practical support

  • Served on Fridays about once a month as a substitute teacher at the school where my family attends

  • Usually taught for the Middle and High School band or strings teachers, sometimes filled in for elementary music teacher

  • When not substituting, regularly set up and ran sound and video support for school activities
